Our Founder – Brodie Smith
When most people look at a traditional home in Bermuda they see a beautiful pastille coloured house with a white roof and trim, coloured shutters and woodwork, and perhaps a cedar front door. Brodie Smith sees a unique piece of history, one unlike anywhere else in the world. From St. Georges to Somerset the traditional spirit of the well-proportioned Bermuda home with external chimneys and buttresses, Flemish Gables, low overhanging eaves, top-hung shutters, U-shaped courtyards and butteries can still be found and have fascinated him since he was a small boy.
Painting Bermudian homes as a teenager between terms at boarding school throughout his high school career taught Mr. Smith to work hard and appreciate the value of a dollar. Working on some of the most luxurious and (and not so luxurious) properties around the island taught Brodie that Bermuda is full of interesting people from all walks of life. After college Mr. Smith travelled extensively, something he still has a passion for, and found himself in the hospitality industry. It was those hotel management positions that taught him how to manage a team and see tasks through until completion.
The Birth of Colour Management Ltd.
Over the last 20 years Brodie has worked for multiple painting contractors and construction companies in Bermuda, Canada and Australia. In 2009 Mr. Smith returned to Bermuda and decided to take matters into his own hands and start Colour Management Ltd.
“I feel there is a market in Bermuda for companies like mine. I’m not just a painter, but someone who has a true knowledge of their craft and a full respect for Bermuda’s unique architectural heritage. I want to keep Bermuda looking like the island paradise it has always been. She deserves it and so do we.”
